Tempest in a teapot

The development of the Soviet reusable transport spacecraft "Buran" began in 1974. The leading enterprise for the development and construction of the ship is NGO Energia. My grandfather participated in the development of a software complex for testing. The first and only launch of the ship occurred in 1988.

In 1993, the program was closed.

In 1993, NGO Energia began to produce kitchen processors on the patent of the Japanese company Sanyo. In the same year, my parents bought this for themselves.

The combine has been used so far, for 32 years now.

In my work, I encounter the present and the past: a spaceship and a kitchen processor merge into a single artifact, being in different contexts and scale. In the installation - in the context of the steppe around Baikonur, but on the scale of the food processor. In virtual reality - in the context of the kitchen of my family, on which this combine is used to this day, but on a spacecraft scale.
