The number PI is encoded on the punch card in the key of D minor. The punch card is twisted into a Möbius strip. Because of this, the melody becomes twice as long. The first half sounds in familiar harmony. But in the second half, harmony is replaced by disharmony, indicating the inevitability of the unknown and the irrational. No matter how long the harmonious melody is, there is at least as much disharmony.
